 PERSONAL PROFILE:

QUALIFICATIONS:

o    Course content included rural policy and planning, quantitative methods, farm and food policy analysis and development economics. I was attracted to this course because of its strong focus on business management.

o    My final year dissertation (“An analysis of Jordan’s ground and surface water management”) utilised my experience of working in agricultural sector in the Middle East (see Interests and Achievements below). As part of this I undertook a self funded trip to the region to meet with various department heads from within the Ministry of Agriculture and the University of Jordan. The trip encompassed a field survey to review real experiences with drought resistant crops and how to cope with highly saline irrigation waters.

10 YEAR GOAL

INTERESTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS:

Travelling:

Spent 14 months (two separate tours) working on a Kibbutz in Israel, and have travelled extensively across Europe. Travel has given me a greater appreciation of different cultures and, having worked in a foreign country myself, I have a better understanding of how to motivate teams which comprise a diverse workforce.

History:

I have a strong interest in 20th century history, in particular with the Second World War and the Cold war. I am particularly knowledgeable about the UK defences and how these were built and maintained, I am a member a research group called Subterranea which is one of the main research groups for this area of study.

 Web site construction:

Have built my own web site www.ukcoldwar.org.uk which provides an insight on the history of emergency planning in the cold war, as noted above this is a particular passion of mine. The web site was been created using Microsoft Front Page and ASP editing software and demonstrates my flair for creativity.

 Voluntary Work:

I am involved at the Blue Bell Railway, working in their Carriage and Wagon works being part of a team of people helping to restore and maintain their fleet of some 40+ carriages and   wagons.  This brings together people from all walks of life that have a common interest in the preservation of n important part our history.
